When I was study­ing Com­mu­ni­ca­tion Stud­ies in school, I learned that in order to have GOOD & EFFECTIVE com­mu­ni­ca­tion with peo­ple, one NEEDED to LISTEN 80% of the con­ver­sa­tion and speak 20%.

Same thing with sales, many sales pro­grams will teach rep­re­sen­ta­tives to lis­ten to the customer/client 80% of the time and talk 20%.

What about with God?

We’re in FABULOUS rela­tion­ship with the MOST HIGH KING. We com­mu­ni­cate with him too — very impor­tant. How much lis­ten­ing do we do?

YES, we MUST go to him repeat­edly in PRAYER for our NEEDS, REQUESTS & INTERCESSIONS, but do we lis­ten to him 80% of the time and SPEAK 20% ?

Do we LISTEN not only in our daily time with him, but also in the mid­dle of a hec­tic and loud busy day?

Could God really have 4X more to com­mu­ni­cate to us than we are allow­ing our­selves to hear? Most likely because we do most of the talking?

There is absolutely noth­ing wrong with talk­ing a lot to our lov­ing God and Father, this post is just a heads up on what effec­tive com­mu­ni­ca­tion is, and how it can IMPROVE our rela­tion­ship with HIM.

What I’ve expe­ri­enced in the last 2 months since writ­ing, Prayer 101: How to Pray and Talk to Jesus, has been of GREAT REVELATION and EMPOWERMENT to me. I believe it can BE for YOU as WELL.

As I PRAY only with the LEADING of the Holy Spirit Eph. 6:18 — and not just what I THINK I should PRAY for — I find myself PRAYING LESS, and HEARING from God MORE. I made a com­mit­ment to God & the PERSON of the Holy Spirit that I would wait on WHAT I should PRAY for, and TRUST that that is EXACTLY what I NEEDED to PRAY at that exact TIME.

God’s TIMING is NOT our TIMING!

At first it FELT strange, like I was aban­don­ing God and not car­ing about oth­ers. But as I stuck to my COMMITMENT, I dis­cov­ered — by his GRACE — that he had MORE to tell ME to get me on TRACK for DESTINY. Prov 3:5 – 6

 And it has been COMMUNICATION by his Spirit more than any­thing — not actual words. For God is a Spirit & we are called to wor­ship him in Spirit & in Truth. John 4:24

The SPIRIT of God has MUCH to SAY, much to COMMUNICATE with US. We just need to be AWARE that the ALPHA & the OMEGA, the AUTHOR and FINISHER of our FAITH, is ready and will­ing to com­mu­ni­cate A LOT to us at any­time and any­place.

If we just listen…

Be still, and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10

And after the earth­quake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. I Kings 19:12
