Do you know what your divine destiny is? Perhaps you are a babe in Christ. You’ve recently accepted Jesus into your heart, and declared him LORD over your life. Now what?
Maybe you’ve been born again and saved for a while. Years. Even decades. And you still aren’t sure what it is God wants you to do or which direction to go.
Maybe, you sense in your spirit that God is calling you to something new, and you’d like a clearer picture of what that is. Here are 7 Steps you can take to discover your divine destiny:
1 — Ask – Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7
You can start by asking! The Lord WANTS us to come to him for everything.
He wants us depending on him, leaning on him, speaking to him and asking. Mat. 7:7 says when we ask, it will be given.
Besides, why would our Father deny telling us this when it is the very reason we are here? Just when we ask, we must expect an answer!
2 — Adhere to Vision — Being that Jesus is Lord over our lives, we are anointed for a specific purpose and task — therefore he will give us revelatory vision.
Not necessarily a supernatural, out of this world, sparks-everywhere vision, but he will tell us his plans for us.
Whether it is his still small voice, a mental picture, a spirit revelation, or something that came to us in a dream, God will reveal it. Our job is to believe and receive and wait for the next step.…
3 — Personal Inventory — What are your skills? Gifts and talents? Experience? What is your personality like? We are a dynamic and unique compilation of all these things ordained for a purpose.
It would be worthy to take a personal inventory of all these aspects of ourselves and assess what kind of work/ministry God might have for us.
If you don’t think you have any gifts or talents — that’s not true! — ask people that know you and love you and you will be surprised!
4 — Hear the Word of God – Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17
Every time we hear scripture, the Word of God, we are supernaturally empowered with faith.
The more faith we have, the more we expect, anticipate, and trust that God is doing something in our lives, the less chances we lose hope and give up.
Hearing the Word can come from attending church services, group and individual bible study, or any other means of hearing the Word of God proclaimed and taught.
5 — Be Spirit-led — This is a very important step.
As we have learned from those in the bible, when God tells us his purpose for our lives, when he gives us vision and revelation, we like — oh we love! — to pursue it on our own and out of our own might.
But that’s not the way it works! God will make it happen in his own time, in his own way.
The Holy Spirit is within us to guide and lead us — to let us know when we are going in the wrong direction. Ignoring the Holy Spirit can cost us years out of the will of God, and much more time in the wilderness…
Prayer and fasting would empower us in the right direction, as that’s what Jesus did for 40 days and 40 nights on the road to his epic and divine destiny Matthew 4.
6 — Await Confirmations — I just love to receive confirmations from God and I’m sure you do too! It’s such an empowering moment when we’ve heard something from God, and at a later time he sends us the same message but by another means.
I’ve received confirmations without asking for them, as well as when I’ve asked for them.
God can use people, places, things, movies, songs — virtually anything that confirms in our spirit what he’s told us before. Such a great moment!
7 — Stay Prayerful — It’s important to stay connected to God along our journey to divine destiny. To remain prayerful when hardships come up and when things start to not make sense. And that will happen.
When the enemy sends doubt our way, and confuses us, staying prayerful will keep us on track.
God will ordain times when our divine destiny doesn’t seem to be unfolding, just to test our faith and expectation to what he’s told us.
Staying prayerful will keep us strong and committed.
When we draw near to God, he will draw near to us James 4:8. When we dwell in the secret place of the most high, we will abide under the shadow of the Almighty Ps. 91:1
Discovering your divine destiny is an exciting and thrilling moment! I pray you discover it and it comes to pass to the Glory of God and the uplifting of his kingdom!
